Преимущества

High excursion, but very "musical" despite.

Недостатки

Require a 2 week break in period.

Awesome choice for an 8 inch subwoofer. They really move after proper break in. I did experience a clicking sound, as if speaker was bottoming out, but could clearly tell I wasn't achieving full excursion. This went away after a few days of playing. I determined it was the speaker cone/coil/former "rocking" in the gap, due to stiff dual spider's, and semi soft surrounds. Once the spiders broke in, the cone moves cleanly, am able to hit full excursion (and then some) now, with no unusual sounds.

Преимущества

This is one of the best 8” subwoofer for hitting 30Hz. I compared it with an 8” Bazooka tube and everything from 50Hz and lower on the Ultimax had a higher SPL reading. I did use 300 watts RMS on the Ultimax and 150 watts RMS on the Bazooka. I tested this way to represent the max SPL at rated RMS power.

Недостатки

Efficiency is low so you need plenty of power. The plus is the ability to hit low frequencies that you don’t normally expect from a 8” sub.

I play a 5 string bass at church normally on my $400.00 GK 12” combo amp. On a whim I took the 8” Ultimax and played with that and had several people say the low end was much deeper. The low B string is at 30.87Hz so this little 8” hits it with authority. Lots of fun.
