This general-purpose home subwoofer enclosure for music and stereo systems provides a balance of bass extension, cabinet size, output, and low distortion. Designed for a single 8-inch round subwoofer, the vented (Bass-Reflex) enclosure features a 25 L chamber tuned to 34 Hz. The cabinet has a simple rectangle shape built from 16 mm (5/8 inch) material with external dimensions of 393 × 365 × 316 mm (15.44 × 14.39 × 12.45 in). Its down-firing design mounts the driver in the bottom panel so the floor or support surface becomes part of the acoustic loading and shapes the bass dispersion. To increase rigidity and reduce front-panel flex for high-output systems, the box includes a double-thickness front baffle. One L-shaped slot port provides a port area suitable for high-output drivers with increased cone excursion and airflow demand.
