Advantages
small enclosure, great frequency response when in a well designed and expertly crafted cabinet, low price, high quality sound, fused speaker terminals which not only protects the subwoofer but also allows simple switching between series/parallel voice coil configuration by changing where the fuse(s) go, sound great in sealed, ported, sealed w/ passive radiator, or hybrid enclosure (1 ported and one sealed and mated with passive radiator built into one enclosure) you get the best of both worlds, these subwoofers satisfy most of the bass-head in me while also satisfying the audiophile in me (for the most part anyways). The SPS® (Soft Parts System) makes replacing the cone/voice coil/surround/spyder as easy as removing screws, pulling out the old SPS® plopping the new one in and replacing all the screws, no alignment or shimming necessary. I really just can't say enough good things about these speakers, Boston acoustics should have never left the mobile audio market.
Disadvantages
It really sucks that Boston acoustics is no longer producing anything mobile audio related at all which means it can become a little tricky trying to find replacement parts.
Total
I LOVE these subwoofers!
