Advantages
This driver has a very high xmax for such a small woofer. When used in a large enclosure around 1.1 to 1.3 cubic feet, it can produce very deep bass down to 35Hz with surprising clarity up to about 90dB. If you are looking to build a subwoofer for a small apartment or room that sounds great but doesn't disturb the neighbors, this is a good place to start. The driver and basket are very small. The midrange performance is decent and fairly well balanced in the vocal ranges for a compact 3 way system.
Disadvantages
Like a lot of the ND series dayton woofers, they can be very good at deep bass, or pretty good as a midrange, but not both. High frequencies are not great and you will definitely need a tweeter. Plan on mounting on the back side as it's cosmetics aren't very attractive.
Total
A versatile driver that can be a small sub, or a compact midrange.
