Advantages

Exceptional wideband performance, not just for the price. Does not need a tweeter on top. Coverage angle is (roughly) 60°x60°, high power handling (250W AES). Low mechanical losses. I'm not aware of any PA 12" Wideband that can do the same (not counting boutique divers like from Audio Nirvana or PHY). Probably a goes well with tube amps too.

Disadvantages

Parameters are such that 80l closed gives a good response, but ported boxes need about 200 liters. I'm running them open baffle. Does not provide high excursion, linear xmax is +/-1.5mm. (I don't think one should push any widebander this far.) Frequency response actually improves over time, my units nosedived above 11kHz when new but now can go to 20kHz (limit of my measurement mic).

Total

Can make an extremely simple sound system without crossovers - no more worries of fried tweeters! A bit of EQ is sufficient. Some people run them flat at home, but listen off axis. Drivers have some sibilance right on-axis, but nothing serious. Great clarity, rich in details, excellent dynamics, high efficiency. Check diyaudio.com for discussion.
