Advantages
The Kicker RT subs are considered shallow mount drivers & being such have less mounting depth requirements than standard drivers. They are also designed to work well in less airspace. Allows for many more installs where both airspace & depth are limited
Disadvantages
Like most shallow mount drivers, the box requirements for vented enclosures is quite a bit larger & therefore is counter intuitive to the goal of shallow mount = small box.
Total
I’ve used these in several, thin, under, or behind seat enclosures in trucks with excellent results. They’re high power handling capabilities, 400 watts rms per driver, along with minimal mounting depth & small sealed box requirements, make them an ideal choice for trucks, or any other designs where space is minimal. I’ve installed them in basic front firing wedge boxes, in thin rectangular boxes upfiring under seats & in downfiring, “loaded” enclosures with great results.
